Zoo Day

Thursday 30th December saw Ange, Steven and I visit Sydney’s Taronga Zoo.

It’s been about 10 odd years since i’ve visited the zoo, and it was great to go back and see the changes that they’ve made over the years.

First stop… the Giraffe enclosure!_MG_8138

Un-fazed by the humid Sydney weather, the Giraffes were probably the highlight of the day.

Hanging out in the sun, overlooking our beautiful Sydney Harbor, the Giraffes gave me plenty of photo opportunities!

We also visited the children’s petting zoo…  because let’s face it, it’s cool.

The elephants were also out to play!

Did I mention it was hot….. it was hot. Pictured above, the Meerkats (And Steven) trying to keep cool and once again.. the best city in the world, on a perfect day._MG_8263
It was a fantastic day and although hot and full of parents with prams….

it was well worth checking out the zoo again, a place where you tend not to re-visit when you get older.

My advice for Zoo Day
1. Go in “in between” seasons. It was really hot today, and although it wasn’t unpleasant to walk around, many of the animals were asleep in the shade.

2. Look online for deals. Adult tickets are usually $43. Thanks to Steven’s online prowess, we managed to get a 20% discount.

3. Bring your own food. A bottle of coke was $4.30… need I say any more.

4. Put your silly face on. Lets face it – there are kids, grumpy parents and sometimes even the token stupid tourist. Bring your sense of humour, it will save you when people start to fight for the last remaining table at the only decent cafe in the whole place.
